Laura was born and raised in the Minnesota snow. In 2000, she joined 7th grade cross-country after her dad dared her to run two times around the neighborhood without stopping. Little did she know that dare would lead to a lifelong love of running for wellness, socializing, and travel. The Navy brought her to Hampton Roads in 2011. Here she ran her first half marathon, shopped at Running Etc for the first time, and fell in love with mild winters. She has Shamrocked every year since 2013, flying back to the area to run the years she didn’t live here. After her service, Laura backpacked across New Zealand solo, became a yoga teacher and attended a retreat in Costa Rica, and hiked through all five of Utah’s National Parks. In the summer of 2020, she realized how much she missed Virginia Beach and moved back. Laura has run in some pretty unique races including the 2015 Shamrock Half Marathon, which she completed on a treadmill in Hangar Bay 3 of an aircraft carrier in the middle of the Atlantic and the super-humid, sweaty-hug-filled 2020 Disney World Marathon in Orlando, her first 26.2.
Laura currently lives walking distance from Oceanfront with her rescue pup, Jen. Outside of running, you’ll find her backpacking in the Blue Ridge, sipping bourbon, and planning her next Disney trip.
